Money has been alocated to build a high level platform and station at Halethorpe. The station location will move from its present position under the bridge to half way down the parking lot to provide eaiser access from each end of the lot. It is our understanding that construction was to start some time ago. MDOT has provided several excuses that construction has not yet started.
Money has been allocated to build a new storage yard, called a wedge yard, at Union Station. The yard will permit midday storage of more MARC cars at Union Station, which will permit the operation of more cars (seats) into Union Station. See here for why storage is required. The project seems to be held up by contract discussions between MDOT and AMTRAK.
